Android Tablets To Overcome iPad In 2013

By on December 11, 2012

Apple iPad continues to dominate the tablet market, but Google’s mobile operating system known as Android is gradually closing the gap and approaching Apple’s iOS very fast. According to ABI Research, the share of the iPad line of tablets accounted for about 55% of the supply of world’s tablet sales in the third quarter of 2012, says Android Authority. This is 14% less than in the second quarter of 2012 and it is actually a minimum figure for two years’ time.
The main “heroes” of Apple loss of market share are Samsung, Amazon and Asus companies. All they sell tablets based on the Android operating system, which share is estimated up to 44% of the whole tablets supply in this year third quarter. In the ABI said that Android has all chances to increase its market share even further the coming year too.
“The Android system has become a default choice for most manufacturers; we expect that the Android ecosystem continues to grow. New producers, the best choice of devices, new markets and more independent developers will contribute to the rising popularity of Android”, – said Jeff Orr, an analyst at ABI Research.
On the eve the Finvista Advisors Company published a forecast that the Android tablet market will overtake the iPad one somewhere around the summer of 2013. Just like ABI, Finvista noted that the release of iPad Mini won’t be able to help Apple to stop the onslaught of Android. The release of iPad Mini Apple said that the company believes a 7-inch Android-tablet segment to be dangerous to it, but then again it could not supply the market with a truly innovative solution at a reasonable price.
